NASHVILLE, Tenn —- The bus stop is a place Andrew White visits everyday and he says it’s not always ideal when you work at Opry Mills.

“The Opry Mills bus only runs every two hours so that’s inconvenient,” White.

As you’d imagine White would love for Metro to put more money into buses and that’s one option the Metro Transit Authority is now giving serious consideration to.

“Instead of building rail you’re gonna have busses accomplish that,” said MTA’s Felix Castrodad.

Castrodad explained the bus option along with two others at a public forum in East Nashville Monday night.

Those other options include a cheaper plan of modest improvements along with a more expensive comprehensive regional system complete with light rail and a commuter rail to Clarksville.

“This is gonna be a scenerio where if somebody wants to enjoy transit they may be able to live without a car,” said Castrodad.

MTA will host similar forums in Antioch Tuesday and on Charlotte Pike Saturday.

The public is encouraged to weigh in online or at one of the meetings before MTA picks an option later this summer.
